Woman’s arm severed by machinery - 21.3.16

A woman has lost her arm after it was severed by machinery at a Myrrhee business in Victoria on Wednesday afternoon.

It is believed the woman was attempting to grab something attached to the shaft of the processing machine when her arm was pulled and detached.

The Border Mail reported that the woman had been working at the business for three weeks and had been brought in to help harvest hops at Ellerslie Hop on Upper Fifteen Mile Creek Road.

She was flown to a Melbourne hospital for further treatment.

She remained in a stable condition on Thursday afternoon.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.
