Tragic start to 2017 as 5 Australian workers die on the job in less than a week - 10.1.17

Latest figures from Safe Work Australia show five Australian workers died on the job in the first week of 2017.

It has been a tragic start to the New Year for the transport sector, with three workers losing their lives in less than a week. The industry recorded the highest number of workplace deaths in 2016 (63).

According to the latest figures, as at 5 January, one construction worker has been killed at work in 2017. A total of 30 construction workers died on the job in 2016. The fifth fatality occurred in the Arts & recreation services industry.
