Safe Work Australia updates fatality figures - 1.4.20

New statistics from Safe Work Australia show as at 26 March, there have been 43 Australian workers killed at work in 2020, with Transport Postal and Warehousing emerging as the most fatal industry.

The Transport Postal and Warehousing has recorded 17 work-related fatalities so far this year. The construction industry comes second with 9 fatalities, while Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing holds third place with 6 fatalities. 

The latest figures show 5 workers in the Public Administration and Safety industry have been killed at work in 2020. Others include Mining 3 fatalities, Manufacturing 2 fatalities and Arts and Recreation Services 1 fatality.

In 2019, 162 Australians sustained fatal injuries at work.
